Let’s Chat D2C - Leveraging Live Chat on your Website to Increase Conversion Rate

Live chat is my favorite tactic for websites in 2024 to increase conversion rates by engaging visitors and guiding the buyer's journey with personalized messaging campaigns. I can trigger the live chat based on a handful of triggers, including the number of previous visits, new or returning customer, current URL, items in the cart, previous purchases, time spent on site, Shopify customer tags, etc.

Where to Leverage Live Chat

There are 5 areas where I leverage live chat campaigns on every storefront:

  • Product Page Campaigns: Pre-sales education to ensure customers that they found the right product and cross-sell other products.

    • Recommend similar products when out of stock or launch a new product

    • Share product tips

    • Offer 1:1 product matching (with photos)

  • Collection Page Campaigns: Give customers guidance on which product within the collection will be the best fit for them.

    • Offer collection guidance, “Need any help finding the right product for you? I’d be happy to help!”

    • Incentivize specific products or bundles

  • Exit Intent Campaigns: Stop customers from leaving your site!

    • Promote a discount or sale

    • Remind past customers of the loyalty points they have

  • Cart Campaigns: Prevent cart abandonment with quick reminders.

    • Highlight key selling points, like free shipping or free returns

    • Share cross-sell opportunities

    • Too much time spent in the cart? Offer 1:1 chat help to get them over the line.

What I’m Thinking About This Week - Building in Public with SCALIS

For better or worse, everyone seems to be building in public... so here is my investor update from last week! There are a ton of wins to share for last month, though I’m sure in the next update I share, there will be some road bumps to highlight from all of the companies we're onboarding right now.

🤝 TEAM

Lizzy Mann has joined the team as VP, Product after serving as an advisor to Parker for the last 14+ months in her role as Director of People Operations at Recharge. Lizzy has 9+ years of hands-on HR experience, specializing in the management and optimization of HR systems for internal HR & recruiting teams, and has not only been a huge resource in terms of what to build and how to build it but has been an unlock for us in the sales process as other HR teams can easily connect and resonate with her past experiences and her WHY behind joining and building SCALIS.

We now have the following team structure in place in Brazil and are shipping product 3x+ faster with significantly greater team morale:
- 4 front-end developers
- 2 full-stack developers
- 3 back-end developers
- 1 dev ops
- 2 qa
- 2 designers

📧 APEX EARLY CAREERS NEWSLETTER

I took over the newsletter last month and began migrating it to Beehiiv, a newsletter platform with a robust advertising network. We will be fully migrated by EOM and are already generating $300+/day in revenue!

We just onboarded with Live Intent, generating $200+/day from programmatic ads in our newsletter.

We launched our ambassador program last week and are generating 10K+ monthly subscribers, officially bringing us to 200K+ subscribers. We’re just getting started here and expect a minimum of 500K subscribers by EOY, though we aim for 1M.

💻 SCALIS ATS

We’re all set for launch this week of 6/3 and have already begun onboarding companies such as Hawke Media, Superfiliate, eHouse Studio, Full Glass Wine Co., and more. For these initial launches, we’re taking a white-glove approach but expect to be fully self-service and hands-off by EOY (the white-glove approach is mainly because we want to be very close to these initial customers when it comes to product bugs and feedback as we continue to expand our product roadmap).

💰 SCALIS JOB BOARD

We've signed up with Antengo to run programmatic advertising on our job board and will launch by July 1st. For context, this should scale quickly. 5M page views per month will generate $230k/mo in revenue.

WHITE LABEL

A private party has agreed to pay us a flat $5K/mo + 15% in revenue for the usage of a white-labeled version of our job board.

💲 FUNDRAISING

We expect to be profitable by EOY, so I will continue to self-fund the business with support from friends and family as well as strategics. Our SAFE closes tomorrow, and we have a few more angels coming into the round.

We may raise next year to accelerate growth, but our plan is to get to and maintain profitability so we can control our own destiny 🚀
